It's been months since the onset of COVID19. The first phase was the uncertainty of what to do as a brand on Social Media which triggered varying options; pausing all Social Media activities not to appear tone-deaf or stay the course with activities and adjusting to fit the situation. Adjusting to mean you view your brands Messaging & Content from a customer's point of view by answering;
  • Would a customer be interested in purchasing this at the moment?
  • What is the customer's financial position?
  • Would our messaging come across as a sale message or a source of inspiration?
  • How would the messaging & current situation affect the 'Internal Customer'?

To continue on the journey of building your brand on Social Media in the New Normal, let's consider the following;
  1. A Change in Messaging
  2. Shift Goal if Necessary
  3. Try out Different Content Format
  4. Analyse Competition
  5. Analyze Results

1. A Change in Messaging

One thing is for sure being salesy currently doesn't cut it. A primary rule that's here to stay is the use of EMPATHY. Everyone's emotions are at a high piled up with moments of uncertainty empathy will definitely go a long way in proving a brand is Humane. Other aspects you can incorporate is being Thoughtful & Sincere as we've all been affected by the pandemic.

2. Shift Goal if Necessary

Two goals that can stand out right now are Brand Awareness & Increased Engagement. I know it doesn't have monetary value however through the two more people are aware of your brand & there's more conversation about your brand. Through the Conversations, you can take note of prospects who can turn into leads for your business through nurturing them. Keep in mind not to seem like a sale is your end goal but tuning your conversation such that the consumer realizes they have a need.

Leveraging Social Media today is super important. It brings anyone up to a level playing field where they can communicate directly to their consumer's & fans. Launching a new product or service? As a business owner, you can use your social media to get the word out directly to your customers the way YOU want. Have a change in your business? Social Media lets you communicate quickly without relying on someone else to get the word out. Not leveraging social media is a mistake.

3. Try out Different Content Format

People are on their devices more as a source of information & entertainment. Be on the lookout for user-generated content, it will create a spin to your brand's content & engagement as well. To take note of your brand mentions use tools like;

Google Alerts- lets you monitor your subjects of interests and you get an email notification every time there are new results found.

Brand 24- It's a paid tool with a 14-day trial period. You can monitor your brand mentions both on social media & websites (news sites)

There's a demand in visual content that is getting more traction at the moment especially; videos, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube Live, Facebook & Instagram Stories, or webinars. Ask yourself how can your business leverage on one of the three to reach & grow an audience. Don't hesitate to collaborate if the content generated will be of long-term value. In the words of Gary Vee; Document rather than create. Documenting activities will make content creation feel like a less tedious activity.

4. Analyse Competition

Take time and check what's working for your competitor it can spark an idea, you can use Google search or search bar on Social Media to look up keywords, phrases & industry terms. REMEMBER not to copy-paste their content. Some tools you can use for Competitor analysis;

5. Analyze Results

As you put out different formats of content you need to take note of what's working to keep producing more of it & also engage with your audience now that there is a change in average time spent & what actual time they are online. Optimizing on the two will definitely be a plus for your brand as the algorithm will also work in your favor with respect to Search Engine Optimization.

Social Media Marketing Vs Influencer Marketing.

Every marketing channel a business chooses to grow into is definitely driven by certain objective's; create brand awareness, customer acquisition, customer retention. However to be able to achieve all this there has to be content readily available for your client/customer otherwise how will you keep people on your platforms engaged.   Social Media Marketing is solely built on the content you create and your ability to engage with your existing and potential client(s).  Most reliable channel I would recommend to startups because once you've got content and make posts consistently you are making it easier for people who would be interested in your brand to find you. Put in mind that as you post inlude keywords that a potential client would use to find your product/service. It will be of great value to build up content that sets a position for you on organic search rather than using Pay Per Click (PPC) where you pay to be on that position i.e. Google AdWords and once you c

A return customer is the greatest win for a brand/service provider. A brand may achieve a return customer after their first purchase if they have checked some if not all of their customer’s needs; It solved a long term problem the person had encountered Convenience Amazing customer service Affordably priced Taking into consideration the feedback provided   A growing number of return customers means that you are growing a community and as such a brand always has to listen to what the clients have say and make sure they feel appreciated.
