Moving forward the following can be set as achievable objective(s); generate leads, generate conversions, direct traffic to the website, app installations, increase in foot store traffic.

Identify Key Performance indicators (KPI’s)

KPI’s are detailed indicators of progress towards your primary set goal.
Brand awareness- how many new followers, new page likes?

Generate conversions- how many newsletter signups, app downloads, purchases made in-store or through an e-commerce website?

Identify target audience

Key details to consider about your target audience; age, interests, demographics, which social media platform they are on. Your target market is your client base and community, people who choose to purchase from you rather than a competitor, people who the keep the conversation going about your brand. Something to note with the current age of internet is that a particular age or audience would be of influence to your audience. “Assuming my parents are into art however they are not tech-savvy. I as their child follows some artists who have posted pieces on Social Media or have noted of an exhibition. The possibility that I get to influence my parents to go for the exhibition and eventually buy some art pieces is almost 100% likely.”

Identify Social Media platform

There are so many existing and emerging platforms; Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, Snapchat, Telegram, Tik Tok, YouTube, Pinterest. All the social media platforms have an aspect to them that as a brand you can exploit to be able to get more value i.e. stories, live. Take note of a platform that results to lots of engagement and conversions for you and enjoy posting content that sparks conversations.

Identify Content format

Content will be guided by; the platform of choice or target audience. Content formats include; articles, videos, photos, memes. Photos can be achieved in two ways; invest in a photographer to which you can choose to have an in-house photographer or outsource the service or use creative apps i.e.

Canva & Pixabay don't require any design skills rather provides you with template and photo options to choose from. For Videography you can choose animation through using animation apps or contract a videographer.

Experiment with different forms to distinguish which results into engagement. To put into consideration is User Generated Content (UGC) especially on Instagram. UGC provides a wide variety to choose from and the advantage about it its relatable since it incorporates aspects of Storytelling. As you create content aim to; educate, inform, add value, trigger emotions & spark conversation.

Importance of a Social media strategy;

  1. It acts as guide and point of reference of a goal that a brand intends to achieve over a duration of time.
  2. It allows one to take note of important aspects that worked that way more focus is diverted into it for more results. In a situation where results are low the brand can test out other techniques.
